Non-Full-Time Faculty

Across the province, over 70% of faculty at Ontario colleges are non-full-time employees. These non-full-time faculty are divided into three different groups: part-time 0-6 teaching hours, partial load 7-12 teaching hours, or sessional which is anything over 12 teaching hours and is essentially a non-permanent full-time employee.

Currently, partial load faculty are unionized alongside full-time faculty. That means if you are a partial load faculty, you are part of the existing Local 350. Part-time and sessional faculty voted successfully to unionize but legal challenges delayed the process. Though the vote was successful, a contract is not yet available. Please see the Part-Time and Sessional Page for more information.

Please take a moment to review some of the information on these pages designed to help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a non-full-time faculty.
